Writer's picture: Keep Up with KaydeeKeep Up with Kaydee

It's that time of year again! This March we are so excited to finally able to have our chapter's annual philanthropy week! Complete with three days of fun-filled activities to raise money for our philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America and local beneficiary the Exchange Club, you won't want to miss out.

Taco Mama Percentage Night

What better way to beat those Monday blues than by going to dinner at Taco Mama in Edgewood? Alpha Upsilon is excited to announce that we will be receiving 10% of everything Taco Mama sells from 5-9 pm! So grab your friends, family, or maybe meet back up with some sisters you've been meaning to catch up with and head on over on Monday, March 29th!

Dinner at the KD House

Craving some Mac and Cheese? Look no further than the KD house! We are so excited to open up our house on March 31st to the campus community for Mac'n'Cheese with the Kaydees. Tickets are 8 dollars at the door (or you can buy block tickets!) and give you access to some amazing gourmet mac and cheese. Join us from 6-8 pm at the KD house!

Hoedown Throwdown- April 1st

And this year instead of our usual basketball tournament we’re introducing the KD Hoedown Throwdown! Join the KDs on April 1st for a horseshoe tournament, live music, concessions, and lawn games. Tickets to enter a team into the horseshoe competition are 10 dollars but the entrance to the event is free! The throwdown will be from 4:30 to 7 pm by Norton Fountain so come on down to the throwdown!

So what is PCAA?

Prevent Child Abuse America is a national organization dedicated to ending the cycle of Child abuse and violence. PCAA has many local beneficiaries throughout the country and one that is very dear to us is the Exchange Club of Birmingham. The Exchange Club goes to many schools in the Birmingham area to educate children on the signs of abuse, acts as a safe house for children affected by child abuse, and gives parents the necessary resources to raise their children in a safe environment. This organization has changed the lives of so many children and families in Birmingham, and we're so grateful to all those in the past who have donated in years past to help support this incredible organization! Your continued support of our chapter's Shamrock week means that we get to donate 80% of the proceeds to the Exchange Club and see that change in our community firsthand! The other 20% of the proceeds are donated to PCAA nationally and help to prevent child abuse all across the US.

I can't make it to the events but I still want to help! How can I do that?

There are so many ways you can help our chapter despite not being able to attend our annual Shamrock week events. We are currently raising money on several platforms and we would love to see you donate whatever you can!

Venmo= @laurengbarnett or @catherine-mcmann-1

Adopt-a-box=Do you know a KD in our chapter? Check their Instagram or Facebook stories to donate directly to their adopt-a-box and help them meet their individual goal!

We are so thankful to everyone who has helped us in years past through donations, time, and energy. We are so excited to finally be able to host Shamrock again and hopefully raise lots of money for our local beneficiary, The Exchange Club. They do such wonderful things for the Birmingham community in the fight against ending child abuse and we hope to see you all support Shamrock in some form or fashion!

AOT,

Alpha Upsilon
